WHEN ANTIVIRUS CRIPPLES YOUR COMPUTERS

1.      1.What management, organization and technology factors were responsible for McAfee’s software problem?
Ø  Management – they should to some test on their updates whether these update are working or not. No further testing is done these updates making them unable to detect problems on their updates.
Ø  Organization - Quality department, the problem is the sign that this department are not working properly. Their main task is to ensure the entire company products are high in quality or at least in a shape.
Ø  Technology – they should keep the technology used up to date. New viruses always undergone evolution in order to become undetectable and more harmful.

2.       2.What was the business impact of this software problem, both for McAfee and for its customers?
Ø  Customers lost their trust on McAfee
Ø  Decline in sales on McAfee product
Ø  Other competitor gain advantages through numbers of sale and customers.

3.      3.If you were McAfee enterprise customer, would you consider McAfee’s response to the problem is acceptable? Why or why not?
Ø  McAfee’s response to the problem is not acceptable; the problems have caused major damages to their customer.  Computers that have received the update have become fully malfunction and cannot be recovering at all.

4.       4.What should McAfee do in the future to avoid similar problems?
Ø  McAffe have to reassess their quality control department in order to increase their products quality to the fullest. The quality control department can ensure all products are working properly according to the standard.
